Piston Aces

Piston Aces is a 2-player, fast-paced 2D dogfight shooter, where you and your friend have a WW2 showdown within the clouds.

Skillfully fly your plane, accurately shoot your enemy, and pick up powerful upgrades to dominate the sky.

Controls:

Player 1:

        Hold "A", “D” to tilt.

        Hold "W" to boost.

        Hold "S" to Fire.

Player 2:

        Hold "←", “→” to tilt.

        Hold "↑" to boost.

        Hold "↓" to Fire.

Tips:

Watch out for your height. You can crash by either going too high or too low. Don't go too steep when climbing or else you will stall.

There's one thing that I've always wondered about: "If 'Scratch' is a study software that's meant for kids to learn to program with, then how far can I push it as an actual game engine?"

I've made this experimental Dogfight simulator mostly in an attempt to write myself an algorithm that simulates the wing Aerodynamics of planes. Planes in this game can stall when the pitch goes too high, and potentially crash if not handled well afterward.

I hope the Aerodynamics would also provide more depth to the gameplay. The problem I've had with most other 2d dogfight sims is that they tend to make their planes feel like “spaceships” instead of actual planes. I wish to bring the importance of height and attack angles into my game.

Players will have seriously consider their position both relative to the ground and their enemy while playing. Climbing provides more room for mobility and easier access to game-changing power-ups, but the process of climbing can also be seriously dangerous especially if your enemy is right below you, to give your exposed plane bottom a shower of bullets.
