Zen Ball

A different take on the traditional game known as Pong.

Instead of struggling for victory, for besting another individual. You are going to examine yourself in this endless cycle.

It's Pong, except you have no enemy, no win or losses.

It's Pong, except you don't belong to a single direction.

It's Pong, except the board always moves forward, as the river of time isn't ever going to stop or flow backward.

        Board and Ball...

        Yin and Yang...

        You and Yourself...

...and that is exactly what this Trojan horse of anger and frustration Wants you to think it is.

The one-way road mechanic is designed to maximize the "regret" of the player. The board is actually faster than it seemed, so it only usually takes little to no tapping for each saves.

However, people tend to panic during the wait for the board to approach the ball. Ending up tapping just a bit too much. Which is just regretful as "not doing something" always seems easier than "doing something".

It's for the player themselves to discover the anti-distinctive playstyle of this game. A bit of personal taste here, but I do enjoy discovering the way of playing myself rather than being taught. And there's where I believe the art of game design lies: letting players feel achieved discovering what's designed for them to discover.
